TomGirl / Godtet Instore

On Saturday 11th of November Northside Records presents TomGirl and GODTET live instore. Both bands are launching their highly anticipated debut releases – on Northside Records and La Sape Records respectively.

TomGirl’s debut release in yet another soul-hybrid from Melbourne’s inner-North. The new single ‘My lovers’ is a little anthem for love that isn’t finite – it is formless and free. The flipside ‘Dunes’ is a mostly instrumental tune reminiscent of 60’s psych-lounge, 70’s surf soundtracks and urban noir, with a touch of the ‘doo-wops’…. totally unique and beyond classification. TomGirl is an all-female five piece comprising Anita Chorowicz, Danika Smith, Harmony Byrne, Laura Clinch and Shanti Lane. Live at Northside from 3pm.

GODTET is a new band put together by Sydney-based guitarist/producer Godriguez. Dave ‘Godriguez’ burst on the scene in 2015 as the producer for Sampa the Great’s ‘Great Mixtape’, making waves both here and all over the world. Whilst the players here are from a jazz background and the instrumentation is undoubtably jazz, the music pushes into other territories. Just like the poster says, we’ll be hosting an INSTORE SIGNING with TUXEDO, aka Mayer Hawthorne and Jake One here at Northside on Sunday Sept. 20th from 3pm. There will be DJs, good times, and records for sale!

Also catch Tuxedo on Saturday Sept. 19th, playing a special Disco / Funk DJ set at the Prince Bandroom. So.Crates – Album Launch & Instore Performance

So.Crates (aka. Skomes and Cazeaux Oslo) are  launching their amazing LP “Static Methods” on Saturday 17th February from 3pm. Joining them will be Pataphysics who also released a incredible album recently. Instore, FREE and ALL AGES.

The album is actually released today (27.01.18) with help of our friends at Foreign Brothers. It’s a beautifully packaged gatefold double LP, and comes with bonus download. It’s been a minute since Saskwatch released their third album ‘Sorry I let it come between us‘, but it’s like brand new again with the arrival of the long player at Northside. To celebrate the highly anticipated vinyl release Saskwtach will be performing live instore at Northside on Friday, 28th August. Come down and get intimate with Saskwatch before they hit the road for yet another circumnavigation of Australia (Rubens Hoops Tour). The live set starts at 7pm sharp, and we’ll have a limited number of LPs available exclusively on the night prior to the official release the following week. Get in early and get some!

LORD FINESSE…..hip hop royalty…..head of the DITC crew… will be at Northside Records Friday 23rd, 5.30pm for a instore signing. Sure he’ll have a dig as well, as you know he is one of the heaviest diggers around. His production always pays homage to super fine funk and soul riffs so he’ll be right at home at Northside!

Lord Finesse should need no introduction to any hip hop head — his crew D.I.T.C — that’s Diggin’ In The Crates, is made up of the creme of New York’s finest: Big L, Diamond D, Showbiz & AG, OC, Fat Joe & Buckwild, and the extended fam includes cats like Dj Premier, Big Pun, Freddie Foxxx aka Bumpy Knuckles, Cuban Link, Party Arty and Bless of Wild Life crew just to name drop a few.

Known for his laid back rhyming style and smooth flows, Finesse has recorded three albums with D.I.T.C: D.I.T.C, All Love and a live album recorded in memory of Big L, as well as several solo albums: The Funky Technician, Return Of The Funky Man, The Awakening plus 2 ‘rare and unreleased’ compilation albums. Fin has also produced beats for some real hip hop heavyweights, including Notorious B.I.G and Dr. Dre amongst others, and is well known for holding it down as a DJ too. There are not many cats in the game who can MC, produce and DJ and even less who would come close to touching Lord Finesse in any of these skills let alone all three. Respect!

Northside is pleased to once again present Cookin’ on 3 Burners live instore. This time around the trio will be dropping tunes from their new album “SOUL MESSIN’“, and hopefully they’ll bust out a classic or three. Joining the band will be KYLIE AULDIST, who will almost certainly preview “This Girl” and other tunes from the new CO3B album.

Kylie Auldist’s new album “MADE OF STONE” is also fresh on the shelves at Northside Records. If Kylie gets her way you may just hear a tune of her’s too. The band for Kylie’s new record is THE BAMBOOS, who will be represented at this performance by CO3B and Bamboos frontman and founding member, Lance Ferguson.

If you came down to the store on World Record Store Day earlier this year, you’ll know it gets pretty heated up inside Northside when CO3B are in the house – it’s strictly standing room only. Come down early -– get your copy of Soul Messin’ signed by the band and catch one of their last performances before they jet overseas for a European Tour. Don’t sleep.
